Job Vacancy: Director General

The Fair Competition Commission is a body corporate established under section 62 of the Fair Competition Act No 8 of 2003. The Commission aims to enhance the welfare of the people of Tanzania as a whole by promoting and protecting effective competition in markets and preventing unfair and misleading m duct throughout Tanzania in order to:

(a)Increase efficiency in the production, distribution and supply of good and services;
(b)  promote innovation;
(c) maximize the efficient allocation of resources; and
(d)  protect consumers.

According to Section 62(7) of the Fair Competition Act, read together witWlst and 2nd Schedule to the Act, The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment hereby invite qu ed lc competent Tanzanians to apply to fill the post of Director General of the Fair Competition Commissio

Qualifications and Functions of the Director General

(i) A person appointed as the Director General ski .

(a)be a graduate of a recognized and accredited university;

(b) possess experience of at least ten years in bne or more in the fields of management, law, economics or finance;

(c) satisfy the Board that he is unlikely to have a conflict of interest as provided under section 66 of the Fair Competition Act;

(d) be willing to serve as the Director General;

(e) be, in the opinion of the Board, well suited to perform the functions and duties of the office of Director-General competently and honestly.

(f)  be a person of proven integrity.

(ii) The Director General shall also be the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission and shall not engage in any other paid employment.

(iii) The Director General shall be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Commission subject to the directives of the Board.

(iv)The Director General shall serve on such terms and conditions of four (4) years as may be set out in the letter of his appointment or as may from time to time be determined by the Commission with the approval of the Minister.

(v) implement Government policies and priorities on one hand, and the Commission's mission and vision on the other hand.

The envelope should be marked on top °FCC DIRECTOR GENERAL' and should reach the undersigned before or by 31st August, 2017. Any application received after that date will be considered invalid.
